We want you to feel comfortable and get you out of pain
There are times when a tooth is so far gone, if you will, that it’s not really feasible to attempt a repair on it because it’s just not gonna last or there isn’t enough tooth structure left to work with. At that point in time, our recommendation may be to remove the tooth.
Now, what we do here is we make sure the tooth is very well anesthetized or asleep, if you will. If you feel anything other than pressure or pushing, then we’ll numb it up some more. I do not proceed unless you are comfortable with the degree of painlessness that you are having. I have had some people tell me, ”Doc, just go ahead and just do it.” That’s not my style. We will make sure that you are comfortable before we proceed any further work on somebody.
If by rare chance that it’s unable to get it numb enough, that where it should be, then we’ll refer you out, pain medication, antibiotics. We’ll refer you to an old surgeon where they can do some extra stuff to actually put you asleep, and then have the tooth removed.
